A Scout is...
Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean & Reverent.
These are the core character traits we practice in scouting.
Pack 1818 is a fun way for you and your children to bond while helping them develop important life skills and build lifelong friendships.
Our Pack combines the best of Scouting with the heritage and traditions of Judaism.
Jewish Scouting
Pack 1818 is a Cub Scout Pack with a Jewish twist. When we camp, we celebrate Shabbat and Havdalah. Cub Scout philosophies, like respecting nature and service projects, mesh beautifully with our Jewish teachings of Tzedaka and Tikun Olam. We are kosher style at our functions. Although our charter organization is the MJCCA, we tend to pull from reform and conservative Jewish families from north of the perimeter. You do NOT have to member at the MJCCA to join.
The Whole Family
Pack 1818 is a family oriented pack and we encourage siblings, dads, moms, and even grandparents to participate. Because our pack is 100% volunteer run, we require at least one parent/legal guardian or grandparent to be involved. We encourage families to invite friends to join as well!
Our Program
From camping and hiking to science and sports, we give our children a chance to explore the world around them. During the past year our scouts have launched home-made water rockets, hiked nature trails, built fires, whittled with knives, slept in tents, watched a basketball game, cooked over an open fire, celebrated Shavuot on a mountain, created and raced model cars, visited a fire station, decorated a sukkah, collected food for our neighbors and so much more. We even created on-line programing during Covid.
